Srinagar, Oct 16 (KNO): In Jammu and Kashmir, retention rate at primary level up to grade V and elementary level up to grade VII is below the national average, reveals official figures.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the official documents reveal that, “The retention rate at primary level up to grade V is 84 percent and elementary level upto grade VII is 66 percent only.”
It reads, “This is below the National average.”
However, the documents further state that the retention rate at secondary level has increased by 7 percent from the previous years.
“The UT has to take initiatives for 100 percent retention of the children in the education system,” it reads.
Meanwhile, authorities have said that its continued efforts and need based strategies are required to improve retention. “The analysis suggests that there is a large number of repeaters and dropouts at the upper primary level as compared to primary level.”
Stating the current retention rate as per UDISE+ 2021-22, the documents read that the retention rate at Primary Level is 84 percent and 66 percent at elementary level—(KNO)
